doesn't seem right...do it?

You do, it's called MTV, VH1,NBC, ABC, CBS and every other network station. But if you want to start a channel that shows woman gyrating an degrading themselves all day on rap videos, or bad take-offs on the Real World and TRL - go right ahead buddy, no ones stopping you! Is their some type of void in television programming that you feel needs to be filled by a WET channel? Do you feel as if you aren't already represented enough on all of the other channels? What type of programming would be on the WET channel that you couldn't find on any other channel? And why is it that people always fuss about BET, but never mention telemundo? What's up with that?

The majority of the channels on network television cater to white viewers. You can pretty much count on one hand the number of shows per station that are intended for black viewers. Many times there is only one black person, if any, on a show who pretty much serves for comic purposes.

Don't get me wrong I belief people are people regardless of color, but we all know there are differences in culture among most blacks and whites. Black people (especially the youth) need to see someone they can relate to on television doing something positive, not only that, but White people also need to see blacks in positive roles to diminish the many stereotypes held.

I personally don't like a lot of the BET programming because I feel it does little to reduce stereotypes, but instead reinforces them. I'd love to see them show more positive shows like The Cosby Show on there, but until more blacks openly support positive programming, it won't happen.

Summary:

Is BET a racist channel? no.
Is WET nessessary? no.
After all you can always what CMT, TNT, ABC, CBS, NBC, Spike, etc. etc etc....

even as black people at the prompt are not considered as an ethnic minority, leisure networks highlighting contributions and achievments of black persons will now not favor to have a seperate status. What desires to be understood is, that because you at the prompt are not white does not advise you're a minority. people of colour international over are a majority. the clarification possibly perhaps using dominance of so observed as white mainstream television that doesn't position black programmes on a familiar primetime body. That isnt to say there arent many staggering black mainstream entertainers. in basic terms evaluate wager to be a community the position a custom can exhibit there life and favor to percentage it with everyone who needs to show screen. Be grateful you've it in us of a of america, we do not get it interior the united kingdom. As for it causing racism, lack of recognize-how is the reason for that. wager may be suggested to introduce a deeper expertise of black custom. As someone of colour (i'm 1/2 black) i imagine it a contribution of any ethnic/ racial/ cultural team is a robust project it provides me perception right into a much broader style of peoples. And in basic terms because there arent networks that explicitly declare to be white doesnt advise that there programming isnt really targeted at a white target audience
