What on Earth did "ii_classy_ii say? Anyway...believing in God or not believing in God doesn't make you intelligent or unintelligent. Both sides of the existence debate have very compelling arguments and sadly there isn't really a clear-cut answer except that nobody will ever know but we will all find out. Also, I disagree with believing in God "just in case." Personally I don't think that's true faith, it's more just covering your bases.

Highly intelligent people are even more keenly aware than most of how much we do not know about ourselves and the universe. And they are not immune to fear and uncertainty. Like other believers, they find it comforting to believe that a supremely intelligent, all-seeing, all-loving being exists and cares about each of us on a personal level.

It's a very attractive fantasy that appeals to one on an emotional level rather than an intellectual one.

While in the flesh, they may seem not to prove that they believe in God but when back "home", the spirit world, such question does not exist. Intelligent or not, we are here to experience and the ego is sometimes dominant so it may seem otherwise. So to answer your question, they don't have to prove to you or anyone else that they believe in God for we are God.

From a psychological perspective (since u put it under psychology category) ...faith causes endorphins and other "feel-good" hormones to rise. In short faith triggers hormones with trigger happy feelings which triggers a addictive feeling. So religion is like a drug for people that have strong faith. I'm not saying god and jesus and all that good stuff doesn't exist, i have no opinion, i'm just saying that is what pretty much happens to your body when u pray and go to church and such.

Think about it. Most intelligent people would rather die believing there was a god then find out there wasnt than to die not believing and find out there was a God.

Experience.

I am one of the biggest skeptics you're ever likely to meet. I hold a degree in law, and my prior training was in computers. I'm also an ordained minister.

My belief in the divine comes from my direct experiences. Just like my belief in hamburgers and my belief in sunsets. I can't tell anyone else that they should believe -- that's up to them and their experiences. But I believe, because of what I have seen and heard and felt personally.

God is the source of intelligence, wisdom, love, and yes, science. All things are from his being... we are his creation and cannot grasp him through our eyes of understanding. We can't put him in our terms - he is much greater and perfect in nature as we are not (by our own choices).
He is indeed, wonderful, and known through faith.
If you want a balance in understanding who he is read the Bible for yourself, or "The Purpose-Driven Life" by Rick Warren beautifully explains and answers many questions.

Simply because we are "intelligent" as you said. I am sorry you were born without a good working brain.
