I need some information and advice on getting from Providence's T.F. Green Airport to downtown Boston (South Station). I see there is a commuter rail line that goes from Providence to Boston on MBTA's website, but when I check their schedules - I can't find Providence. What is the name or operator of the rail that runs between Providence and Boston, and where can I find a schedule on the internet?

Also, if anyone is aware of a better way to get to downtown Boston from the airport - please feel free to offer advice.

Amtrak runs train service between Providence and Boston. You can just take a cab or shuttle service from TF Green to the station in Providence.

You want to check out the Commuter Rail of MBTA, Attleboro Line.

They will actually be extending the rail out to the airport but that's going to be a few years so it doesn't help you much.
You would take RIPTA (the Rhode Island public transit) from the airport to downtown Providence. It drops you off at Kennedy Plaza and it's a 2-3 block walk to the train station.

I don't really know of anything else.

The other option is call the airport and see what other transportation services they offer. They may have a bus line that comes up to Boston, if they do that is your best bet, they will usually make a stop at the terminal and pick-up passengers.

I've included a link to the MBTA website, this will take you directly to the "Commuter Rail" section of the MBTA website.

HMM.. I wish I knew the answer. TF Green is in Cranston, not Providence, so maybe ther is a commuter rail there? Good luck.

Sorry, TF Green is in Warwick

For an early flight like that, the best bet would be to take the bus down the night before and get a hotel at PVD

That would be DART you can visit them at www.dart.org

One route you can take is to Start out going SOUTH on HARRY HINES BLVD / TX-354 LOOP S toward MOTOR ST. Continue to follow TX-354 LOOP S. then Stay STRAIGHT to go onto N AKARD ST. and finally Turn LEFT onto FEDERAL ST. and that is how you get to downtown from the airport

WHY DON'T YOU FLY INTO BOSTON? the train is great but you'll have to take a bus from the airport to the train station. There's all so greyhound bus, but its not near the airport either.from providence to Boston it a 2hr drive. good luck.
