blue is the colour of Savoia, which was the ruling house of Italy from 1861 until 1946. Until then, the country's flag always had the Savoy coat of arms on it. It is only since the Italian Republic was established post-war that the tricolor has been the national flag

I have yet to notice white in the German flag or for that matter orange in the Dutch flag........... and it's 'their' not 'there'. You may want to look in the 'Answers' archive as well as this question has been placed about a dozen times in the last week.

Good question, I never understood it myself unitl now. I can't imagine them going for Green as Green ain't exactly a cool colour for football shirt even though in so many other ways, Green (possibly with its association to Italian use of Olive in food) is commonly used to reflect the Italian and their lifestyle.
