Most states you can get a job at age 16. However, if you're going to school, there is a limit to how many hours you can work. In Michigan, your total hours spent at work and in school can't exceed 48 hours per week. There are some jobs you can get if you're under 16, like delivering newspapers, being an umpire for Little League games, being a lifeguard (in some states), etc.

The minimum age is different for what type of job, which state or province, and what country.
A little clarification would help.
In any case,
The age can be 14,15, 17, 18, 21 depending on what TYPE of job you are seeking in Canada. The lower the age, the more restrictions that are put in place to minimize harmful effects of working so young.
In any case, the link below is the minimum age for working in ALL provinces in Canada. You will need Adobe to read the first link.
The chart starts at page 4.
The link is straight from the gov't office of Human Resource and Social Development.

certain places will break the law and you can work at 15 and 15.5 because its cheaper to pay the 15 year olds and the fine for child labor than to hire older people who demand higher salaries.
