Now why when i ask a question about my turtle i get little kids that think they know everything and say crap like... well give him to someone else that has more experience with pets... well that is what i am asking the questions for... if i did not give 2 crap about the pet i would just let it do what it wanted throw food and forget about it.. why do people get so mean and think they got to insult people when they are trying to ask a simple question?

There's nothing wrong with wanting to learn more about your pet so you can give it the best care possible, but what I (and most other people) DO have a problem with is when people get a pet before they learn ANYTHING about it, and either decide to learn by trial and error, or attempt to gather even the most basic information along the way at the expense of the pet, since that means they aren't getting proper care until their owner stumbles across the best information. I'm guilty of the same thing actually. I got a baby turtle from a friend who couldn't keep it anymore while I was still in Junior High and I assumed I knew what I was doing, and while he's still alive and still healthy (have no idea how honestly, had him for years without giving him the proper lighting, and gave him nothing but commercial food which was waaaay to high in protein as he was growing), I still feel guilty about it. He has a slightly deformed shell and is actually a little too big for his shell (he's still fat, he's currently on a diet).
The problem is, things like this happen ALL too often. I work at a pet store and so many people will come in expecting me to spoonfeed them information on what they need for an animal they bought a week ago, meaning that their turtle is sitting in a 10 gallon aquarium with no heat or (and I've had this happen) their rabbit has been living in the cardboard box it was taken home in, and get upset with me when they find out these animals are more work (and money) than they thought. While there is no excuse for being mean, and some people jump to conclusions rather quickly, please believe that situations like this are MUCH to frequent and most people just want what's best for the animal.

P.S. what did you want to know? I have a species of African sidenecked myself...

Edit: Just read your other question, if his crap is runny and he is getting a proper diet, it could be a sign of internal parasites, best take him to the vet and get him treated. Also, they do tend to pee on people when handled, most water turtles are not fond of being messed with.

Ya know, none of us knew a damn thing when we were born. We had to learn everything about everything. Some people like to think they know it all & maybe they do know alot, but they tend to forget that they had to learn it somehow. Never let these jerks stop you in your quest for knowledge, especially when it comes to pets. We all can benefit from each other's experiences and on the job learning. I can't really help you with turtles, but I've got 40+ years experience with snakes, so if you ever have ANY questions, don't hesitate to ask. Good luck & take care.

Asking questions is an excellent way to learn. You can also do some research online, read books etc. Keep it up...always ask questions all the time!

Don't take it personally. You don't even know these people and they don't know you. They are just being goofy. If you didn't get any good answers, ask the question again.

Because they are petty and it makes them feel good. They have deep issues about wanting attention.
Hope your turtle is doing great!
