Good question. No one knows for sure if he was a real person, or if he was a combination of several different thieves from different areas. It's one of those cases where there may have been one person, but every time another thief did something unusual, it got attributed to "Robin Hood."

On his death bed, he fired an arrow out of the window and said they were to bury him where ever the arrow landed in the forest. He was ill and they were 'blood-letting' to cure him, but the bleed site wasn't dressed properly and he bled to death.
