Because they think that just because they support some pie-in-the-sky utopian feel-good idea, like 'world peace' or 'end poverty' or 'stop racism' or 'stop crime', then when they do something supposedly towards those ends, they feel it is right and good, regardless of the outcome of their actions.
But most of that 'doing something' they do is misguided, unfortunately. So when they propose to reduce crime by disarming law-abiding citizens and the right wing disagrees, the left chooses to feel (not think; definitely, not think) they are morally superior. Of course, the right does not feel morally superior, just mentally and logically superior because they bring out all kinds of evidence and facts and data supporting their view.
Same with 'ending poverty' - the left thinks that taxing people and throwing money at the problem will be all they need to do, and anybody who disagrees with that must be morally wrong. Of course, they never bring up the fact that for the past 40 years, there has been a War on Poverty in the US. Which after trillions and trillions of dollars, has not only not solved the problem, but has actually exacerbated the problem. The right looks at it and says, let's end it, it isn't working. The left looks at it and says, we haven't thrown enough money at it.
And there you have the difference. A rightie will see a problem, propose a solution based on historical precedence, facts and data, and if it doesn't work, will scrap it and try something different. A leftie will see a problem, propose a solution that 'feels' like the right thing to do, implement it, and if it doesn't work, will throw even more money at it, regardless of its actual effect.

Why do right wingers always lie about the situation? Face it, most US conservatives are so convinced of their own moral superiority that they claim the Lord God agrees with them -- even though the bible clearly shows that isn't the case. Rather than agree with God and follow his path, they do pretty much the exact opposite and then claim God is following them.
Like that comment from macdaddybos that most left wingers are godless when most left leaning US citizens are Christian.

For decades, left wingers had practically the entire media to themselves. Little of what they asserted was questioned. As the ultimate irony, the press began believing its own press. They had near total control.
Then came an unexpected triple threat: the rise of talk radio, the Internet, and cable tv, such as Fox News. Suddenly, the liberal point of view was being openly ridiculed. The result has been hilarious to watch. The pompous, East Coast limousine liberals squirm, wiggle, and sputter their outrage at anyone daring to question their (previously unchallenged) superiority.
You may have an unflattering view of Ann Coulter. I know I did until I started reading her new book, Godless. My only previous experience had been seeing her on The O'Reilly Factor and a few other programs where she came across as smug and flippant. However, despite the confrontational way she delivers her messages, I have to agree with most of what she says.
The most ironic thing is that I work with a guy who was born in Lebanon, and who despises Bush and anything Republican. He sheepishly made the comment that, even though he didn't like Ann Coulter personally, he had to agree with most of what she says!
You know, there are days when it's not so bad being a conservative!

Because left wingers are narrow minded. They do small goods to humanity (charity acts from time to time, some money for the retards, a hot-dog for somalia etc.) and that's make them feel like small angels. The truth is that they never see the big fish, they can't understand how the things are going... instead of giving money to the scums they should create more places to work etc.
The left wingers can be divided into two categories:
- the poor who demands equality with the rich
- the rich who are hypocrites and want equality with the poor.
I am from an ex-communist country and I hate everything is related with left wing politics. Socialism and Communism are a living hell for a decent mind. Don't vote for left-wingers and don't trust their equality ideal because is fake.

I'm sorry, you have a mistake in the question. It should read "Why are right wingers so convinced of their own moral superiority?"

I believe strongly in socialism. It is a belief that everyone can be equal no-one is superior, the problem comes with the human lust for greed and power that's when it goes wrong. 'Right wingers' take the moral high ground because they have the might of wealth and look down on those whose social and political standings are different.
The crux of the matter is that people are afraid of socialism because they immediately assume of Communist ideals and regimes its not all like that. If anything be afraid of right wing globalisation the loss of individual identities of nations!!

I suppose that if you feel that you have moral superiority over other people, it`s probably because your brain is to small to understand other peoples views. After all, there is a lot of truth in the old saying about empty vessels make the most noise.

This is the classic argument vs constrained and unconstrained vision.
In synopsis - constrained individual (conservatives) believe that what we do are constrained by what has happened in the world today.
unconstrained individuals are usually people who believe that we just "haven't done it right yet". And that someday we can have a perfect society if we have the right, smart, people running it. i.e. socialism - goverement run and set by a select few of academic elites. For more detail search the web, or read the below article/book.

moral superiority? I don't think they believe that, what they do believe is they are open minded and liberal thinkers. In that thinking, there may be a feeling of superiority for them. With all that being said, I don't agree with their conclusions, and I see my beliefs superior to all others. LOL

It's kinda easy to consider yourself morally superior when you argue for human dignity, feeding the poor, peace, etc.
