It's how we are taught by our parents. If parents would teach kids that we are all the same, I believe it would eliminate racism. And I mean black parents as well as white as well as ALL parents.

I'm a white middle aged woman, and I'm not a racist. I've never really understood why there is so much hatred in the world, and I certainly don't approve of it. While I don't subscribe to this line of thought, I think I can explain it at least in part. Many people fear what they don't understand, they fear anything they percieve as different and being out of their realm of logic. Because of this fear they shun what is different, and try to "push it away". If it can't be pushed away and is always in view, they hate it. This is true for all races, nationalities and faiths, not just the white/black issue.

I, for one, have taught my children that racism is and should be a thing of the past. I have taught them to seek out the similarities in other human beings, rather than focus on the differences. I may not be able to change the whole world this way, but I can certainly improve my little corner of it.

I don't think racism is about skin color at all. Racism seems to be related more to certain personality types that just cannot accept those who are markedly different from themselves in ANY way; i.e., like white Southern 'Crackers' who not only dislike blacks, but Italians, non-Christians, Asians, or even northerners. They do not like anything that changes their status quo, environment, or social structures in any way. They cannot tolerate change that is not self-induced. I think it is sociological, even pathological, and not easily changed. The 'us and them' syndrome. Social retardation. While this is in no way 'right thinking', or political correctness, I cannot see how we can change anyone who does not want to be changed. Unfortunately, we still harbor a political climate in which people's prejudices, fears, and irrationality are still given a voice. I believe that what adds fuel to the fire, is that some of these groups put to much effort into differentiating themselves, instead of just BEING part of the whole. How can we be ONE when we build so many walls between each other?

I've travelled around quite a bit and have generally found that white people have been fairly accepting of me. I've never noticed that I was being treated differently to white people. In fact I like to think that generally white people that I've know have accepted me into their various groups.

People tend to fear things that differ from themselves. Fear tends to bring out lack of acceptance, which leads to hate. Add man's history of enslaving others, and the result is racism.
The good thing is that, as we evolve, our races continue to mix. Eventually, if we survive our own social stupidities, we will become so mixed that we will be one race. So the problem of racism will take care of itself.
Take care.

Kill your T.V.

Racism will always be here. It doesn't matter what race you are someone hates you for it. If you try and outlaw it your a hater too. Best thing to do is forget it exists and don't hang with haters.
Now me, I'm not a Racist i hate Everybody!

As long as someone looks different than someone else, there will be racism. It's history, but no one seems to want to change this! If we wanted to eliminate racism, we would teach our children and friends that it doesn't matter!
Much Love and Peace

because their parents are racist and teach them to be. When my son was a little boy, I took him to a store, while there, he started playing with another little boy, who was black. When the boy's mother saw them playing, she rushed and grabbed her son telling him "didn't I tell you not to play with white boys?" That kind of shocked me at the moment, but then I realized that's how racist are born.
