What off season moves are they thinking of making?

They're not going to do much of anything:

"While Grunfeld isn't shy about making a deal, the Wizards president of basketball operations likes the talent and chemistry of his current roster. Two straight playoff berths and strong recent performances against top teams - including a 3-0 regular season mark this season against Detroit - have him feeling good about the team's future.

"I'm comfortable with what we have," Grunfeld said Tuesday, "because I think we've shown that we can compete on the highest level with anybody. Having said that, you always look for things to see if you can make your team better. I think we've shown in our three years here that if the right opportunity presents itself, we're not afraid to pull the trigger."

"I believe in continuity," he said. "I believe in consistency, and you can't make wholesale changes every single year and expect to have that good chemistry."

Even if Grunfeld wanted to be aggressive this summer, his options would be limited.

All of his top players, except Jared Jeffries, are already under contract for next season. The Wizards are over the salary cap, and the impending free agency crop isn't very impressive, anyway. Trades are always possible, but no team is going to give up what every Washington fan would like to have: a dominant big man."

They want to obtain a "stretch forward." In other words, they want a forward who can make three point shots and play along the perimeter. This would open up the lane for John Wall to penetrate and drive. It would create more space for Wall. Also, today's NBA involves a lot of three point shooting. Atlanta did better than Washington in this area in the second round of the playoffs. Kris Humphries may practice his three point shot in order to become the "stretch forward" that the Wizards need, or they may acquire someone else through free agency.

They also want to see Otto Porter, jr. continue to develop. He made strides during the playoffs, but he needs to continue to develop. They may trade Nene, who has an expiring contract. He is set to make 15 million a year next year. Maybe they can trade him to a team who wants him for one year. They may not re sign Drew Gooden or Garrett Temple. It depends if they can upgrade at those positions. Kevin Seraphim may leave because he is an unrestricted free agent. He wants to go where he could start. That's too bad because he is a good player. Washington will miss him.

GM Ernie Grunfeld's contract is up. The team must decide whether or not to retain him. Randy Wittman, the head coach, is under contract, but the team could consider a change at the head coaching position. However, Wittman will probably be back.

The Wizards need to take the next step next year. Nothing short of an appearance in the Eastern Conference finals is acceptable.
