Without reviewing the sentencing record, it would be difficult to say for certain.

In most states, there is a requirement that a certain portion of the sentence be served before the convict is eligible for parole. The US Government has largely eliminated parole for federal crimes.

If they were sentenced to prison in 1985 for robbery and have not yet had a parole hearing, the chances are that they were given extended sentences on each of the three counts, and that the sentences were to run consequetively, that is, one after the other. Most sentences are set as a minimum and a maximum, such as 12 to 25 years, etc.

Without researching the Virginia statutes, in effect in 1985, it would be difficult to tell how they are interpreting it.

You should consult a lawyer in Virginia who can review the case and evaluate the sentence based on the law in effect at the time of sentencing.

Why should the bastard ever be paroled? I'll bet you're one of these 300+ pound chicks with low self-esteem, who sends money to every inmate with a sad story to tell. . .

Depends on what his sentence was.
