Zidane's banning had nothing to do with France losing the WC, unless you think it's a one man team.

I was just thinking the same thing. They wouldn't have won anyhow. Is Zidane the only good player France has?

We got all the goals in, Italy has a fantastic goaltender. so how can anyone say they would have won the shootout?!!

Zidane's expulsion had everything to do with France losing the match. Overall France played a better game, but Zidane was their key player. He would have made a great difference in the penalty shots. I think this match shows just how important some players are to the success of a team.

The only thing that would have change is maybe France would have made 4 pks instead of 3. The real problem was they took out Ribery and Henry leaving Zidane and Trezeguet as the only 2 really good pk shooters, then Zidane got the card and only left Trezeguet, giving France no chance, and even then Trezeguet missed! So either way France had no chance in PKS!

It is not that they would have won if he had not received his red card, it is just that they lost because he did.
The moral of the team just died after the red card. They had been attacking all second half. The fire that they played with was for Zidane. The fire that Italy did not have. Italy looked as if they wanted to go home all second half. They really got lucky with Zidane's missed corner kick header and the missed penalty call in the box.
Dont get me wrong, I'm glad France didnt win, but I just wish that they didnt lose with Zidane's red card.

I think that France would of had a chance if Zidane stayed in the game, especially in PKs, but Italy was unstoppable and would have won anyway because they had all the momentum going in to the final match.

France would of won because Zidane is a good penalty kicker.

I agree, and the people that say that should blame zidane.. Italy would have won anyways, Trezeguet missed the penalty kick and he would have missed it even if zidane was on the field, no difference

Because Zidane is their captain, he raises their moral… And even if he wouldn’t do anything that 10 min. his teammates would, his presence is much needed on the field. And if he couldn’t even touch the ball he would have done just about enough if he went on and stand in only one place of the ground… And the rest of the players, all they had to do is only look at him and they would knew that they are not alone, that there is Zizou to help them…
