A PC that is powered off can't be hacked by a remote user, so don't worry. However, if the PC in question is serving as a firewall server for your entire home network, the PC needs to be on all the time. I recommend getting a separate computer for use as a firewall server and backing it up with a UPS (a power supply that will allow the firewall computer to continue running for some time during a power outage).

If this is a standalone computer, there is nothing to worry about if it is turned off. But if your PC is part of a network, you might consider either leaving it on all the time, or getting a router with a hardware firewall.

Download another one then you won't have to worry.
I found this one last night. 'Sygate Personal Firewall 5.6'
Just type it in the search engine and a list of download sites come up. Saved my computer this morning.
