I am drawn to Celtic and Native American music. They both have a quality that I not only hear, I feel. I can get lost in them very easily.

I would have to say America and not for the shallow nationalistic reasons; because yes, I am an American. It is simply because of Jazz. Jazz is a little understood greatly underappreciated artform these days; it is also a broad term.
Jazz can range from pop-culture vocal pieces to esoterical abstractions of sound. I would have to base my love around the avante-garde movement; primarily Be-bop for the following reason:
Bop is as much an intellectual movement as it is a musical movement and that is the greatness of this artform. It is about taking a script with set form and making it your own. For instance if you take something well known, ie the "The Star Spangled Banner" and play it in a way that truly expresses the way you feel, then something has been added to that performance that wouldn't exist if you had just played it "perfectly" the way we expect to hear it. And yes, Hendrix's version of the Anthem is Jazz.
Once people understand the concept of playing a song differently every time you play it; they begin to apprecitate the spontaneous emotional reaction to the known artform which instantly creates a new artform. It is the perfect balance between past and present: "what is known" is converted through your emotional state into "what is now".
To understand the impact of spontaneous emotion expressed musically as an artform, listen to John Coltrane's "Love Supreme". Although simply comprised of musical sounds, it conjures imagery of various things-- it invokes an emotional narrative. (He states that this album is his spiritual tribute and conversation with God)
The great thing about Jazz (or the spontaneous element found in Avant-garde jazz) is that by being an intellectual movement, it can be applied to other art forms and life in general. Kerouac's "On the Road" can be considered a jazz novel because he take the "American Novel" whose fomat was well known and completely reinvents it through spontaneous emotion. Kerouac typed the novel on a single roll of paper so as not to interupt his train-of-thought by having to change sheets in his typewritter.
A sucessful businessman ususally takes the known knowledge of his trade and steps outside of the box; literally reinventing their particular industry with something new which in turn send the entire industry in a new direction. Look up the story of Jim Senegal (CEO of Costco).
Anyway, JAZZ is the best musical example of an incredible life philosophy which once understood is absolutely invaluable and anything but "boring" (I hear this one a lot -- usually from people who don't realize that the top three songs on the radio have been the same three songs, slightly altered, for decades!)
Its been said that the greatest American contributions to the rest of the world are Jazz and Bourbon, but I still can't find any foreigners who enjoy Bourbon!

I love Celtic music, because it sounds so melancholy. But the music I most admire is American, we've managed to pull influences from around the world and meld them into new forms, that sound great.

Scotland. Those bleating pipes befoul the air with there endless droning. Marvelous tool of war! I've been told by Scotish nationals that pipers were forced to walk ahead of the armies in hope that they'd be the first disposed of, but then it was a Scot telling the tale.

I like alot of music from alot of places. I love traditional rock from England, who doesn't? Then I love Carribean muic since its always happy and relaxing. It reminds me of vacation! Believe it or not, I also like a little Japanese pop. Yeah, I know its strange but I do. I also enjoy regular US musuc ranging from rock to rap to pop. I dislike country music though. My favorite country's music is probably Carribean since it's just really fun!

Mainly the rock. Or whatever America produces.
There are better chances of it being upbeat.
