very interesting...i'm sure the midwest is getting them first...being the corn belt and all.

the "flex fuel" is a good idea, so you aren't ever stranded somewhere without e-85 pumps!

Gm is already partnering up with other distribution companies like Sheetz in PA to offer ethanol... Marathon Oil is going to start producing ethanol. Its a matter of time before all oil companies will be offering this product...

There are ethanol plants springing up in Wisconsin as we speak - a very lucrative business. You can find e-85 pumps all over the place in the midwest, although it's not to the point where it's at all the stations.

If you get a car that runs on e-85, it should also run on regular gas - it's a "flex fuel" vehicle.

Ford has been making flex fuel vehicles for a while - if I remember correctly, you could get a mustang in the mid-90s that had an ethanol tank and a regular gas tank.

My parents' 1998 Caravan is a flex fuel vehicle, although they haven't tried it yet.

hope that helps :-)

It depends on what part of the country your in. You can check http://www.e85fuel.com for a pump locations. If you happen to live in central states its much easier to find ethanol since the plants are here. Here in Nebraska there was starting to be alot of E85 pumps when that stuff costed like cents less than regular gas and E10.

BUT since the price of ethanol has gone way up in price, demand has plummeted, some E85 pumps have been taken out of service because no one would buy the stuff if its higher priced. Demand for E10 being 7 cents higher than regular unleaded has gone way down. Kind of sad when the farmers don't want to use it anymore.
