Do not ever pay to become a member of a survey panel.

There are plently of free ones. If they are charging you, it is a scam.

There are several free survey sites that you can join for FREE that do offer some cash for survey (but not much). Most only offer points that you accumulate and use to purchase products. They reward you with points you can trade in.

Some sites that I have used and am a panel member on are:

I followed a link from someone else on here and it led me to a website called Cash Crate. You won't make a fortune doing this, but you can easily make maybe $10-20 a week (great for pocket change!) without putting out any money. Basically they show you free/trial offers and surveys, and they tell you upfront what the payout is for doing the survey or viewing the ad, and the money accumulates in your account. Once you reach $5 (or more, it's up to you), you can receive your payout either by check in the mail, or gift certificates. I thought it would be a waste of time, but now that I've done it for a while, it's a pretty easy way to make some extra bucks. Here is the website:

So far I've accumulated a pretty good chunk of money, and I did actually receive the check in the mail so I guess they're legit!

Be prepared to join up for a lot of survey offers in order to increase odds of receiving anything. I currently answer dozens of surveys a week, as many as 20-25 per day at times. So far since Jan this year I've made about $110 which included being paid for a focus group which I earned $100 for 2 hours, not bad! :) So there are groups paying, I've not gotten any of the draw money yet, but I'm working on it. I don't do this for extra cash tho, I'd starve if I did...for that I depend on the good old art, web development and writing.

I'd recommend you diversify...all surveys won't garner a lot, if you want to make money at home...consider selling on Ebay as well as looking into sites that are seeking "experts" in various areas of expertise...write ebooks and distribute via some of the publishing groups now on the net (fiction, non fiction, how to etc). Do a search on Google for making money at home and NEVER, EVER pay for information or to sign up for some "club", most times the same info is available by searching yourself. Personally, I'd also recommend staying away from these groups that claim there is strength in numbers and all you have to do is sign up and the money rolls in...anything thing that sounds too good is probably a dud.

You can make some money, but you'll never make a fortune. Many survey sites now 'pay' in vouchers rather than hard cash, but surveys are not the only form of homeworking to enable you to make some money.

Have you ever thought of Mystery Shopping as a way of earning a few pennies? If it interests you at all, please feel free to check out http://mshopper.5.forumer.com You do need to register, but registration is completely free, and the board also contains a large list of survey sites that the board members use and that pay!

Don't ever be tempted to pay for any Mystery Shopping guide on places like eBay, the information is freely available on the web, and no reputable Mystery Shopping company will ever charge you for registration either)

doing servay will pay less, go for the internet business which require less of your time and the one that will not make you feel headache with web designing or which require IT knowledge. Second, choose the internet based company which offer you the opportunity and at the same time giving you the convenience to start the business where all the things are automated. Stephanie, don't waste your time and money. I wondered the same thing a couple of months ago. I paid something like $30 or so to get "all the information" I needed to make money at home. Well, if you have NOTHING else to do but sit on the computer for endless hours, you may be able to make a few pennies. The survey stuff is a bunch of hogwash if you ask me. Consider babysitting or something maybe even once a week and you'll make considerably more money.
