I observed one that used to frequent my garden for 4 years. "He" had very identifiable markings, so it was easy to tell. I would guess that was very old in the wild; they might make a couple more years in captivity.

There are many types of squirrels but, most are around 10-15 years.

Depends if he's digging holes in my lawn to hide his peanuts. The last squirrel didn't live for very long when I found the peanuts had sprouted. They pass by my garden now.
