I'll start out by giving you the common stereotypes:

"americans are fat because they eat only fastfood"
"they have no culture - they eat fastfood, watch hollywood movies and know nothing about the rest of the world"
"their president is a &%%*&"
"they waste more energy than anyone else on the planet"
"they don't even know which countries their president is bombing"
"they are arrogant"
"they don't speak other laguages"
"they're naive" -> with respect to islam and the middle east
"they have airconditioning everywhere and it's so cold that it makes you ill"
"they have no style, girls look like dolls with lolipop colors, men dress like boys"
"they speak as if they had a potato in their mouth"
"they rely too much on technology"
"the eat fastfood until they look like a rinoceros and then get liposucked"
"all women are undergoing esthetical surgery"
"their cars are not fuel efficient"
"american women are uninteresting"
"they impose their way of living to other people"
"they have the most millionaires, but also more working poor than any other western country"
"there is no good health insurance system"
etc, etc, etc

i could go on for hours. these are common statements that you hear in europe. needless to say that some of them are pure preconceptions, but still i think they hold some degree of truth. positive aspects people mention here are:

friendliness, democracy, technological innovation, military bonds,

in other regions of the world, the opinion is a lot more negative unfortunately (south america, middle east...)

I think of it as a first world country, with free telephone services and Internet services. American people love fast food I think because MacDonald's is advertised so much on the t.v. Most of the people are over weight, people use too much plastic surgery because the watch too much T.V and waste thousands to look beautiful which they already are in there own way. In conclusion I don't want to live there but I want to see the entire U.S. but it is to commercialized for me.

Through hearing about my Aunts experience in Switezerland, Americans are not liked. They do not like what our country is doing to other countries and think of us as the worlds police. Which I agree we are, I think personally we should deal with our own problems and not others.

I like Americans

I detest your government, and your international policies; this has nothing to do with Bush, BTW -- yes he's a jerk -- I have a longstanding opposition to American policy and goals.
