why is it that many people answer stupid question but very less people answer informative questions.

go to ask or somewhere else for educational questions

Because of a misguided sense that this site is for entertainment, not for knowledge. The points system doesn't help. So many people think the points means something when they in reality are just a self-use gauge for us to know where we stand. They are not for one-upmanship. Of course, the jokes and riddles category is exempt from this distinction because it is specifically for stupid stuff.
Until the answer team fixes that problem, the stupid questions and answers will continue.

Different reasons: 1) To get 2 points; 2) You don't need to get a brain tumor for stupid answers; 3) Informative questions pose problems - people try to answer them in too much detail and sometimes go overboard and try to bs their way to an answer. Humor is part of our daily life SO answer a stupid questio just for the 'laugh' of it !!!

I will respond to your question with a question. Why do so many people ask stupid questions instead of informative questions? Like yourself, let's just say...hypothetically.

me speaka no engish... does it really matter, if I'm in a informative and serious mood i answer serious and sensible questions but if i feel like playing the goat (like i am tonight) i go for senseless and silly question. In all honesty if you don't want to hear people being silly just go and look up your question on the net. Have fun and a great day/night...

very good question!!!! I think WHY , is that this site has become a playground for the highly playfull witty or wannabe witty. Fewer legit questions to be answered and more childish banter in both questions and answers.

Not everyone is intelligent enought to answer bright informative questions.
So those that like answering stupid questions, feel that they are leaving their mark in the world.

I only answer questions that I know things about. Unfortunately, I am not smart about alot of things- so I answer the stupid questions.

Beacause its easier to get points. Its not really very taxing on the old grey matter though, and kinda spoils the whole answers thing.

Ya know....When I ask a serious ? I get lots of answers and stupid ?'s get only a couple. BUT, they are not stupid ?'s to me. I really wanted an anwer.
