I recommend reading the Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfeld. Beginning with UGLIES, it is set in a futuristic society where prettiness is more than just having lucky genes...but as Tally Youngblood and her friends find out...there may be a price to pay for being one of the beautiful people--true the Pretties have no rules to live by except have fun and sleep late....but is there a reason why they all act the same? Can Tally uncover the secrets and lies before her own secrets are revealed??? I can't give you any details on the others in the series...Pretties and Specials...because one wouldn't want to give away too much detail!
Needless to say, I find these books are about love, life, drama, fun, and adventure!

Hi there. I'm the author of a new medieval fantasy book that you might like. The title is THE BLACKGLOOM BOUNTY. It's 445 pages of action, adventure, magic, mystery and mayhem. If you like Conan, LOTR or epic fantasy books, this may be one you'll enjoy. Oh, and the co-main character is a teenage girl from Ireland. The book is PG rated.
Good luck, whatever you decide to read!
Jon F. Baxley (Author, Editor, Ghostwriter and Proofreader)
THE SCYTHIAN STONE (eBook only)
THE BLACKGLOOM BOUNTY (eBook and hard cover)
THE REGENTS OF RHUM (coming fall '07)
Major Media Reviews:
Publishers Weekly
STARRED Review. A fast pace, sly humor, amusing dialogue and a richly researched background lift Baxley's fantasy, the first of a new series set in medieval Britain. When Merlin's long-ago apprentice Kruzurk Makshare (aka the Boozer) receives a dreamlike visitation from the legendary mage, he learns he must destroy another former apprentice, the villainous Seed of Cerberus. To do so will require a visit to the demon-guarded Blackgloom Keep. Enter young Daynin McKinnon, who discovers a curious rune-covered headstone, which may be the fabled Blackgloom Bounty, and brings it to Kruz's attention. Kruz believes it will provide entry into the fortress, while Daynin hopes the sale of the stone will restore his family's fortunes. The colorful cast of good guys and ne'er-do-wells includes the Pictish ghost of Brude McAlpin liberated from his tomb, assorted pursuing Caledonians and a bemused Prior Bede, whose monastery serves as a hiding place for the Blackgloom Bounty. Suitable for fantasy enthusiasts of all ages.

Try the Madeline L'Engle series beginning with "A Wrinkle in Time". It was a Newberry Award winner and was written specifically for young teens. It is a great book, though, and well worth reading.

I always thought the "Nancy Drew Mystery Series" books were great.
You may want to check out Amazon.com. Melody Carlson has a variety of books for you to choose from, ie. "Falling Up", "My name is Chole" etc. Also, Nicholas Sparks, "A Walk To Remember" may interest you too.
Have fun reading this summer!

Have you tried Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card? It's an incredibly riveting story about a genius boy -- it's from his perspective, so it really gives you an interesting take on the world. I highly recommend this book -- even my dad liked it!
