Why do you ask about music. How about sound in general. Sound .

When sound is produced in a space, multiple reflections may build up and blend together, creating reverberation, or reverb. This is most noticeable when the sound stops but the reflections continue, decreasing in amplitude, until they can no longer be heard.

The sound travels by way of soundwaves, which can also be absorbed by air, the walls, your clothes, curtains, the floor, etc.

The audio vibrations eventually fade and get blended with all the other sounds in the environment. The memory can activate part of your brain so that you either remember it, or will make it keep playing over and over in your memory.

in your brain = in yourself

and physically - the waves just loose their power in time and space and vanish

Music, as with any other "sound", travels within "waves". "Waves" move "outward" till they come in contact with something of a different density, such as: a solid, a liquid, etc.
