I have just installed my pc with xp pro edition and i want to check to see if i have IIS installed??how do i do it? and if i don't have it, how do i install it since i do not have the ms xp pro installation cd with me??? this is urgent!!

go to control panel add remove programs and check windows components installed. If it is checked than you have it. By default it is not installed so you probably don't have it. In control panel you can install it.

Go to Add/Remove Programs and then Add/Remove Windows Components. IIS will be listed there and if it has a check box it means it is installed, if it doesn't have a check it isn't installed. Check the box to install it. XP keeps files local for such installs so you may not need the XP CD. IIS isn't installed by default with the XP install so you likely don't have it installed.

Check your services control panel... it's under "Administrative Tools" or you can use "Computer Management" which will show you the same thing.

check if you have the web folder "inetpub" in your c drive this should contain the folder "www" also open your browser and type "localhost" (without the quotes) your supposed to see a welcome page of some sort.
