There are many avenues to quit smoking. First and foremost you must have the desire to quit or you'll never end up being successful. If you decide you have the true desire to quit, talk to you doctor for the avenue you want to pursue. You can use the patch, lozenges (which I have used and find to be the most satisfying regarding the psychological need to smoke), gum or you can go "cold turkey". Most importantly, check with your doctor first before you use any over-the-counter stop-smoking aid. And find a support group, whether it's a quit-smoking buddy, friends or family. Be determined if it's what you truly desire and remember, the first four days are the hardest if you're going "cold turkey". Nicotine takes about that amount of time to remove itself from your system and that's when the cravings will stop on the physical aspect. The psychological aspect will be harder if you've smoked for a long time and smoke more than a half a pack a day. Remember that for some people, smoking is relaxing. You breathe in while you inhale which is what actually relaxes you...not the cigarette. Try taking a deep, relaxing breath when you are stressing, and try sucking on mints or candies for a few days to help relieve the psycological aspect. Much success and many good wishes to you.

Well my husband has tried to quit smoking a few times....he tried the patches but they worked for a while but it depends on the kind of person you are.....I'd say try the patches first, follow that program to the end and if that doesn't work there is medication you can try starting with a Z.....I don't know the name of it...but it does work...will power is another way of quiting smoking but you must have will power made of iron for that to work....See a family doctor and talking to him about seems like a good idea to start with if the patches don't take your fancy....or just ring the Quit line I don't know the number sorry.....and I don't know what country you are calling from....but there are a few pointers to start to quit and may I ad lots of luck and best wishes for your quitting smoking...you will be glad you did......

no body is forcing you to smoke, when you take the cigarette next time to smoke just think that this wont do you anygood , just inhale some smoke and damage ur entire system and lungs and then exhale. But if ur in some perosnal problems then sure u try to sort them out first rather than just sitting and smoking...good luck

Since I am about to embark on that very same journey..I am going to do the "cold turkey" method, plus in about a week I will be around people who do not smoke for about 4 days..I think this will increase my chances...good luck!
