Richard Nixon, his corrupt government mirrors the one we have now. His economic policy's, everything for the very rich while leaving the poor and middle class behind. Supply side economics, allowing the dollar to float, private ownership of gold was all designed to aid the rich. Nothing for the poor and middle class. Reagan was a continuation of these failed policy's then the first Bush and now the worst of all. Rush Limbaugh with his pompous drug induced rantings played a role in why I vote Democrat and probably always will.

My politics are always changing. I learn new things out every day. If I was to keep my views from years ago I would be ignorant as to what I believe is the truth behind our government. The Biggest event I would say is 9/11. Nothing else in my life time has been more important in the world of Geopolitics then that event.

When I got my first job and paycheck and saw how much money the government was stealing from me. At the same job (a cashier at grocery store) I then had to ring up customers that bought $100 of food with food stamps, and $200 of beer and cigaretts with cash.

Government: root word is Govern = control, opress. Thus the whole concept of LIMITED government which was embodied in our constitution. A concept that has been completely forgotton.

My socioeconomic condition. I grew up poor, worked my way to the middle. paid my way through school then risked it all to open a business. All the while giving back to the community. I therefore believe in social liberties and individual freedoms I believe we the people are responsible for development of society. I believe what I have made through my risk is mine and nobody has the right to tell me what to do with it. I believe those in government are incapable of determining what is best for us.

I have watched two political parties screw this country. Their game playing and corruption, their me me me me attitudes are disgusting. (Unions vote Dem to gain favor for government contracts, Religious right to force their "morality", and corporations "support" whichever party is in power (as evident in Enron's access to the white house under Clinton AND Bush)

I was a Democrat until my slavation. When my heart changed, my politics did a 180° turn. Now, instead of debating issue by issue, I realize if the heart changes, the politics will follow.

The 1992 Presidential Race and MTV's Rock the Vote. I grew up in a rural community where all I ever heard was "Democrats will take your guns and tax you to death!" Thanks to Rock the Vote, I was able to learn about the issues and to form my own opinions.
