A cheap digital camers is best. The problem is that cameras are designed to take photos to print, and the image size is likely to be too big for the web.
A print wants to be at 300 dots per inch (dpi) and a screen image wants to be 72 dpi; so you'll need a program that can re-size your images.
An easy one is Irfanview, and a more technical one is The Gimp; they are both legal freeware and the download addresses are below.
It will help if you can also use the 'save for web' option. An image file contains all sorts of data such as the date, camera make and model etc; this just makes a big filesize and slows the upload time without contributing to the image quality. The save for web option strips all of this info out of the file and reduces the filesize. Its called 'optimising' an image. If you save as a jpeg you can also reduce the image quality to about 80 without destroying the image quality, this will make for a smaller file.
You need to have a practice with your camera and the program; the filesize wants to be about 500 kb. You need to think about getting your object on a plain dark or light background; try placing it on a sheet. Also watch the light, make sure theres good overall light. Spotlights can be used to enhance the object but if badly done it'll make the photo look poor. The best thing about a digital camera is that you have no film processing costs, you can just delete your images and try again.
Have a look at goods in adverts and try to copy how they do it.
If you can get the hang of an image editing program you can tweak the contrast, light etc to get the best image. You can also remove any distracting objects from the background, crop and so on. You can also add text to your photo if you need to, such as a label.
Its well worth taking the trouble to learn because you can really present your goods at their best with a clear photo.

1. Use a digital camera to take the pictures.
2. Download the pictures from the camera into My Pictures (you can use a cable to connect the camera to the computer or remove the memory card and use a card reader)
3. When you create your eBay ad, follow the instructions to move the pictures from My Pictures and insert them into the ad.

Well, digital camera's are the easiest. You snap the picture and download it via a usb port/cable from the camera to your computer. If you don't have a digital camera, you can go to any local Wal-Mart and have them put any number of pictures you desire onto a cd which you can them pop into your computer's cd rom drive and drag and drop onto your desktop (or whatever directory you desire), and upload them from there to eBay.

The easiest way would be to take a picture with your digital camera and upload it......or take a picture the old fashioned way (Poloroid) and scan it. If all else fails you could look for a picture of your item on the net and save it, then upload it to Ebay....as long as the picture you save looks very similar.

First a picture of the item must be in a program on your computer. Ebay has a great program to let you enter a photo. Unlike some sites, it allows a large file to be entered. I am sure when you enter the item for sale you will see the program for entering the picture.

You can either take a picture with a digital camera and upload it to your computer, or take a picture of the item with a film camera and scan it.

There are several ways.

You can use a cell phone and send the pic to your e-mail. Or you can use a digital camera and upload it to your computer with a data cable.

Then, when you're setting up your auction, it'll prompt you for your photo, and you just hit the browse button and go to where you stored it.

You may have to resort to taking pictures with a digital camera, and uploading them to your computer. You could also scan in existing pictures.
