Having grown up in the South, my experiences have shown me that most of the people supporting Republican Politicans also tend to be racist. It might not be that way in the rest of the country....

The underlying theme of the GOP is profit at the expense of humanity and the environment. I don't think that Republicans are, as whole, terribly racist. They have no problem with oppressing certain peoples, but it's not racially motivated. It's profit motivated.

You've probably been told that Republicans also support the fanatical religious groups, the oil companies, big business, etc. The Republicans are heartless and cruel, and the Democrats are the ones who really care about people. BULLS***!!!

Here's a perfect example: One of the biggest lies the liberals have perpetuated is this idea that they care about minorities, especially those living below the poverty line, and the Republicans don't. See, some liberal figured out long ago that all they had to do is come up with a plan to give poor people money for nothing (but barely enough for these people to live on) and then point the finger at the other party as the "bad guys" who want to take it away. That's how the Democrats have capitalized on the Welfare program.

Has the problem improved? Are these people who receive welfare living any better than they did when the program was started? No, but the Democrats aren't doing anything to make life better for these people. They don't care about people living in squallor -- all they care about is getting re-elected every 2, 4 and 6 years.

Republicans have a different idea. They don't want to take away someone's welfare; they want to give them job training and education while giving them money to support their families so they can eventually get jobs and therefore won't NEED welfare anymore. But what do the Democrats say "Don't vote for them! They want to take away your welfare!"

P.S.: I lived in the south for many years, and I saw just as much racism in liberals as I did conservatives. You should also know that whites don't hold the monopoly on racism. I have been discriminated against and had racial epithets hurled at me by African Americans and Hispanics alike on numerous occasions. But isn't it funny that we only hear about whites committing acts of discrimination and bigotry?

Well right now I think it is a Democratic problem - Just look at Pelosi & William Jefferson.

I too grew up in the deep south. Racism is a 2 way street that everyone walks on. I know blacks that are racist, Latinos that are racist, democrates that are racist, independants that are racist, and republicnas that are racist. Until peolpe decide to become moral persons we will always have the race card played by someone who finds it easier to pass the buck

The Republican party has always reached out to get the votes of groups that normally wouldn't support a party that has the welfare of the rich as their main concern. Fooling enough of these people enough of the time is the only way they can get elected. Wife-beater, trailer-trash Southern (former "Dixiecrats) republicans all joined the party in the 60s as a responce to Democratic party picking up the flag of civil rights. In 2000, The Republican party tried to tap into the Black vote by packing the first night of their national convention with Blacks. They were unable to find enough Black Americans willing to sell their souls and appear there and had to hire Eddie Murphy to play most of them. They stopped doing this when it upset their trailer-trash base. Republicans have no honor.

There are just as many racists in the north, east, and west. Nor does it have to do with political parties. Some "people" are just racist, happens all over the world. Sad but true.

The south is so bad yet....in the last 30 years, where have most of the racial "incidents" occurred?

Boston Busing Riots...North
Michael Griffith...North
Yusef Hawkins....North
Howard Beach Incident...North
Abner Louime cop abuse....North
Rodney King Incident...West

It looks like people are trying to deny the what is still very present in our society. Some of my family members are racist and they are from NJ. Its out there and most likely worse in the South. People need to get out of this denial that it ended after the 60's. Its there just not out in the open anymore. People just have to be more clever about being racist now

My personal experience shows the opposite. My die hard democrat relatives in Missouri are far more bigoted than my GOP relatives in the northwest. Granted, that's a limited polling sample, but I've seen the trend in most places I travel. The problem is that the left has been able to spin the GOP's belief in self sufficiency as racism.

Left of center racism is far more subtle. When Dems pander to minority groups what they are implying is this: You minority people CAN'T take care of yourselves so don't even try. We'll take care of you as long as you vote for us.

I wouldn't say racism is the GOP's underlying theme; permanent control of the American political structure is their prime directive. Racism, however, is related to their primary psychological tactic of political manipulation - that being an appeal to the deep seated need we all have to feel we are better than others. They have developed a political calculus which purposely targets all kinds of miniority groups (immigrants, gays, blacks, etc) and thus gives those not in that group a primal tweak which endears them to these manipulators.

Yes; some of the GOP biggest supporters are organizations like Bob Jones university, Which has has a history of denying the entrance of minority students. Their are other examples but ill have to do some digging, I don't recall them off the top of my head.

No. via out our history the Dems were assisting racial segregation and discrimination. The Underlying topic Of The Grand previous party at present is inflexible christian ideology which equates to discrimination antagonistic to whoever would not follow of their "righteous" route. that is not race depending, yet theologically depending.
