i was watching a car commercial the other day and it starting my thought processes whirring.

what if:
the car companies are actually "fueling" the war in Iraq and the gas prices increasing b/c this is the optimum market to release their Ethanol fueled cars???
instead of these cars being enticing to just the environmentally conscious, they are now appealing to the masses b/c of their offer of an alternative to high gas prices.

or....could everything be "fueled" by the farmers of America?? they may have the most to gain.....hmmmmm.
and i always thought the "simple life" was pure and inoccent.....

"vosot"...
my thought about the company's profit would be that it would be more profitable b/c the market is crying out for an alternative. so, being the "salvation" to the gas crisis would surely be profitable. however, in the long term, i'm not sure.

i was comparing it to the Hybrid. the Hybrid is/was a great concept, yet it's targeted audience is/was mainly the environmentally thoughtful. Ethanol cars are appealing to the masses--especially now.

even if the car companies aren't "fueling" the war and gas crisis (just a thought:), i'm sure they are prepared to launch ethanol cars as THE alternative and assuredly will profit from it.

"truckjunky87"

that makes sense. like i said...i was just thinking:)
i'm sure they would make more from an institution that is already established like gas fueled cars.
however, i thought it was a prime market for them to launch their e-85 cars.

Trust me, they make far more money selling SUV and trucks than they do selling ethanol fueled cars to a public who, by and large, don't know where to go to buy ethanol fuel. The auto companies would like to see cheap gas just like you and me. Just look back to the late 90's when gas was cheap, economy was humming and auto company's profits were huge because the SUVs and trucks were flying out the doors.

Hmmmm...you're good! So lemme get this right. Do the car companies make any more $$ on ethanol cars than they do on gas? Looks like they'd spend more on R&D than they'd make up. Could be wrong.

You have quite the mind. Impressed!

Dont' put much stock in conspiracy theories. If the Bush administration can't even keep its own classified information secret, there's NO chance that the auto makers and/or oil companies would be able to do so.

See the new film "who killed the electric car" for a reasonably balanced look at these issues and people involved and how this all operates.

I think that's very creative thinking, but as a conspiracy theory I think it's pretty far fetched.

Food for thought...
It sounds plausible, but either way, why not?
