game theory studies decisions that are made in an environment where various players interact.

ABC did an experiment of this in NYC. They put about 6 pairs of random people in NYC, and told them to find each other. No one knew anyone else. But as a pair, they had to *think* of what the other players were thinking was the best place to find them. Most chose the Empire State, others Times Square, but they all managed to find each other. It was pretty cool to watch.

Nash's most famous contribution is the Nash Equilibrium, which wasn't so much an equation as a hypothesis.
