Yah, if they launch one we will shoot it down and then blast them worse than Japan during WWII.

The long range missiles they have will just barely reach the tip of Alaska--they don't have the range to reach the mainland yet. Even if they did, they would have to realize that Pyonyang would be flat, black and glowing before they could launch a second one. I think that their leader is just having a temper tantrum--he hasn't been in the news lately, and he wants attention.

I, too, heard a similar news report. And with my son living at USC, I find myself a bit more paranoid about North Korea's threats. While I can't completely dismiss their potential for deadly force on our lands, I can offer a bit of solace for you. I know a man that works in a government position that allows him access to all sorts of stuff we lay people can't even imagine. Since he knew of my fears for my son's safety while living in Los Angeles, he told me of an almost science fiction type of defense mechanism that the United States has developed just for this sort of threat. Luckily for us, our government has funded scientific exploration and engineering development of a defensive strategy that would, in layman's terms, blow those missiles out of the sky before they hit land. So, rest easy for now...but I think that this is just one of the reasons we really must pay close attention to who we vote into office during the next few years. Albert Einstein once said that World War Three would be fought with sticks and stones. He predicted that a nuclear (or as he said atom) bomb would level the world back to the stone age. I hope that our future proves him wrong.
I don't know if you'll find this helpful, but I did. Check out Google Earth and just scan the country of North Korea. If you compare it to other countries in that area, you'll immediately notice how rural and mountainous it is. Not at all like the more urban China and even South Korea.
While I can't dismiss their threat, I wonder how a country that can't even feed its people can really hurt our country.
