What if one of your parents let you know they were gay after a divorce... would you still love them if you loved them before knowing?

What has changed? The person is still the same person that you have always loved. Knowing now that he or she is gay may make you feel uncomfortable at first, but it shouldn't change your feelings for that person. If he or she told you that they had a heart problem would you stop loving them? Of course not. Being gay is not a sickness. To some of us it seems strange and weird, but it doesn't change the heart and soul of that person.

It's called unconditional love. It is probably something you will have to learn to accept because what counts is that they are happy in life and I would be very happy with that parent because it also means that they love me so much that they could come to me with honesty and trust and that right there is the best feeling ever, And the love between you and that parent from that moment has now grown stronger.

Not everyone in the world is acceptive of homosexuality. People have the right to have their own opinions about this and they do not have to accept it just because society thinks they should. While I would still love my parent, that does not automatically mean that I would be acceptive of this and don't try to force me to be acceptive of it like they and society wants or expects me to be. Let me deal with it my own way and whatever I decide, my parent will have to deal with it.

I guess I probably would. The strange thing about love is you really have no choice, It's not something you can turn on and off. You don't have to understand, or approve, or even really like someone to love them. Its biological, to fight it is like trying to think yourself into having a tail or 6 fingers on each hand, Just wasting time and energy.

Yes I would. Them being gay have nothing to do with the fact that they are my parents. If they loved me before, Im sure they still do. Its not my place to judge.

Of course. They are the same person, you just got to know them even better, and should feel happy that they loved and trusted you enough to be comfortable telling you.

If you loved them beforehand, then how would it make anything different?

Don't be foolish. They're no different.

If nothing else, perhaps you should love them more for having the courage to tell everyone about their true desire.

Life's too short to lose your loved ones.
Life's too short not to love.
