I left a man high in the media who treated me like a princess and wanted a future with me because of my children and the distance between us when my most recent bf proposed marriage. My sons are happy, we are struggling emotionally and I know that a large part of this is my inability to get over him and possibly having regrets. How on earth do I move forward...

Wow! Sometimes you can't move forward until you take a couple of steps back. It's like fixing something you can keep patching it but you eventually have to go to the root of the problem to get it fixed. Well start getting to the root. First you may have to accept the fact that you went into this relationship with this new guy too soon. People always say the best way to get over your ex is to put someone in his place well that is not true. You have to take time for yourself sometimes that is the best thing that you can do. I think that you should be honest with your new guy. Tell him that things are moving a little too fast and that you need time to sort things out. It is better to do that than to let this thing continue in the way that it has. Good Luck!!

That's why people say you should have a rebound "fling" or not-so-serious relationship after a really big breakup. It's hard for the next person you date to compete when you held your ex so high up on a pedestal.

But trust me, I understand, you can't always get over someone so easily. You'll just have to realize that you can't go back in time and it's time to move forward. It's a very hard thing to do. Perhaps take a week (or a few days) away from your family and sort things out in your head. Long walks and solitude for some reason, allows me to sort things out.
