They are NOT 100% accurate. Your best bet is a blood test.

Yes they do. Your body produces a hormone when you're preggo, and most tests can detect a level as little as 20 or 25. The hormone level can increase into the tens of thousands, so that's really a small trace amt that it can detect. You "can" get a defective test, it's possible. When's the last time you were late? How old are you? (age can make a difference!) Also, if you've been exercising a lot, are really active in sports, or stressed out, it can cause your periods to be late or v.light. I was 8 days late once due to stress and 2 1/2 wks late another time due to stress. And I took about 4 preg. tests and they all said neg.
If you don't get it in the next several days or so, I'd call your dr. and let him/her know what's going on and see what they say about it.

call the doctor for an appointment. If the test still comes up negative, take a blood test too, refuse to leave without some kind of answer. He gets paid to tell you whats wrong. Pregnancy tests dont work with all women. One women i saw on yahoo questions explained to someone else that she has all the pee tests and blood tests in the world and they all came up negative and eventually the doctor gave up on them becuase he could hear the baby's heartbeat.
remember stress also cuases periods to act up, delay, or skip.. so relax a little

not a chance. I took three home tests, including one 3 days before I got a blood test done at the hospital and all three were negative. which would explain my shock when the doctor told me I was 7 weeks pregnant. I literally said "excuse me?" don't trust a home test.

no they dont work for everyone. My bosses wife was 7 months pregnant & a med rep came to her office (shes a labor & delivery nurse) to show off their new pregnacy tests & he thought hed be all smart & asked her to take one to show how well it works, well she took it & it came back negative & it freaked the guy out b/c she was so obviously pregnant. She just didnt have enough of the hormone to have a positive response, it was like that for both of her girls.

some women won't see a positive result for even 3 weeks after their period is due. Your best bet is a blood test from your doctor

My wife says generally they work for everyone, however it may be too early for some of the tests to detect properly.

They are some that will sometimes not work but then again you could not be pregnant and just stressed out and that is why you are late.
Go to http://www.peeonastick.com
Retest using first morning urine and good luck
