you need to go further back to understand how these guys got their influences. Look at Led Zeppelin ( Led Zep 4, Houses of the Holy), Deep Purple ( Fireball, In Rock, Burn), Black Sabbath ( Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Paranoid), Jimmy Hendrix ( any and all), Slade (In Flame, Till Deaf do us Part, Slayed), Cream, The doors, Kiss, Dio, Rainbow, Gillian

Well it's easier than you think.Go to sites where you can buy records and look for albums that are tagged as "The best of..." or "All the best of..." or something similar to that. That way you're gonna get a lot of songs.
Few of my personal favorites are:
Bon Jovi-All 'bout loving you
Bon Jovi-It's my life
Guns 'n Roses-November Rain
Guns 'n Roses-Paradise City
Nirvana-Smells like teen spirit
Nightwish-Over the hills and far away
Metallica-Nothing else matters
Sonata Arctica-Letter to Dana
