I usually take a deck of cards, word search puzzle books and a good book.
Here is a list of some of the books I have taken with me on trips: "Murder on the Orient Express", "Savannah" it is a series of 4 books(historical fiction set in Savannah, Ga. during the Civil War), "Chronicles of Nariana", "Sense and Sensibility" and "Pride and Prejudice" as you see I love to read to a lot of the classics. Another book you can read is the Bible; it has your mystery, murder and romance all in one book.

Well your lucky your plane ride is only 4 hours. I've been on a plane for 12 hours and let's just say there's a first and a last time for everything. But anyway, why don't you try a "classic" CD player with some extended life Duracel batteries. Make a mix or bring your favorite band's Cd. When I flew i took my ipod and listened to Coldplay most of the ride and let me tell you, if you want time to fly, do that. It puts you right to sleep. You should bring some magazines that you like. Perhaps maybe a laptop if you have it. I know some people who had cards or these neat little portable games (minature) that they play. Well hope it helps.

Do you know how to knit or crochet? You have to get plastic hooks and needles though.
Find someone with a portable DVD player, a PSP or a gameboy.
Or art supplies if you're into that. You have to be creative on the plane... or have a beer at the airport take 2 Tylenol "Simply Sleep" pills and do the time travel thing where you wake up somewhere else. That's fun too.

You could get a Tabloid (such as Us Weekly, People, the National Enquirer or in the UK 'The Sun' I think it's called). Those are always entertaining.
Are you going alone? If you have someone with you, try a card game or a game of like, magnetic checkers or something.
I know it's old school, but go back about ten years and take a personal cd player. LOL. Or a GameBoy.
Hope this helped...

Four hours should be an easy flight. Take a cookbook and read it, if that is what you like. I flew from DFW to Perth, Australia, 23 and 1/2 hours, in the air and it would have taken so many books and movies, my luggage would have been overweight. Beside most airlines offer you a pair of headphones and have different stations to listen to, plus movies.

I take search word books and puzzle books, they also now have portable DVD players you can rent. They are great! Time really flys when you put it into movie aspects. Drawing? Cards? Write a letter to a firend you have not seen? Write your Christmas cards for next year?

If you have a laptop or a portable DVD player, bring it and watch a movie or two.

4 hour flight isn't that bad. Try a 10 hour one.

You can bring a portable DVD player, a puzzle book (if you like puzzles), an IPod (if you have one), sleep (stay up late the night before), magazines (such as Star, In Style, etc.),

How about some crossword puzzles or those Suduku puzzles. Alot of people seem to like those. Also maybe some magazines, those are more entertaining than books.
