I know I do; even if i know i'm wrong. is it pride and ego that keeps us from admitting fault and wrongdoing in a situation?

Who wants to be wrong???? Nobody! Who wants respect? Everybody. To get respect, you have to be able to say "I was wrong about that"....and that takes some maturity to do. Good question.

There's nothing wrong in saying "I'm Sorry". It's a matter of ego but sometimes we just don't think that we should be sorry especially if we are with our dear ones because we know that however we are we are being accepted.
No harm about it. It's the way we are ego or not as long as it doesn't affect our conscience it's great.

Saying sorry to someone makes you feel the other has gained a win, and you have lost.
Actually thats not true...because by being the one to say sorry, you actually take the winning edge, as now you bring the ball back to your court by being big enough to admit you have been maybe wrong.

Of course, it may not change events...the damage may have already been done, but you at least know that you did apologise for your mistake.

If the apology does not solve things, you just have to move on.
Life is alas, learning to live with consequences of our actions, however big or small.

Good Luck...make your own decisions

It was more than likely in the way that your parents raised you . When you are wrong you should not be afraid to say, I am sorry , Unless you are a rude and unfeeling kind of person . Many people do not like to be around people that cannot admit that they were in the wrong .

It's because that is one of the toughest things to admit to as (some) feel it makes them look weak when in fact being able to admit you are wrong shows a strong character. Believe me, it is much easier to say I am sorry then to feel sorry for not saying it... Good luck!

"sorry" is the hardest word to say for anyone who hold herself/ himself in high ego. so even if they realised they have made mistakes there's no way they will "loosen" their held-high ego because this will mean swallowing their pride.

I find it difficult too. I prefer showing that I am contrite, but not mouthing the words. I don't like eating crow - I guess.

You answered your own question. I think the only part you left out is training, people are trained that if they are wrong that they will be chastised and ridiculed.

of course. i think its one's ego which stops him from accepting his mistakes even if he know that its his fault.
