Think about this for a minute. If quitting and collecting were a real option, don' t you think a LOT of us would have done it by now?

Depends on the state you worked in. When I worked in Connecticut and I quit, I was able to get unemployement if a took part-time work and earned a little money. You also have to prove to them that you're looking for a job. The best time to find a job is when you already have one. Nobody wants to hire someone who can't hold a job.

Not unless you have a damn good reason. They usually only pay if your fired or laid off because you probably didn't see it coming. By quitting, your giving up a job, hence income too, and you knew it was coming.

You can always try but if the employer said you were fired or quit and they deny you, then you can't.
