I totally agree with you, I work in the healthcare field and the hospital is full of non-speaking English people, it's not right at all. They should stay in their own country.

I agree yes. They should at least try to learn it but I do think they do. I mean a Chinese immigrant struggling to ask you the way to the bus station is good. I would like to see how well you would do in China. English speaking countries can be very lazy and arrogant abroad. I once saw an American tourist in Barcelona trying to get his question understood by increasing levels of loudness and arm-waving. I mean if they aren't going to understand you the first few times I don't think shouting at them is going to help.

Yes, anyone that expects to live and work in the US should speak English. We shouldn't have to add spanish subtitles to menus or on doors of businesses.
They need to assimilate into our society.
You brought up a great point - if an American moved overseas to live and work, he/she would have to learn their language and become a part of their society. I lived in Germany for 3 years and if I stood apart from their ways and lifestyles, I would be frowned upon.

I AGREE. Survival language is a must. Then to learn the language to be able to deal with deeper issues of the host culture comes optional.
