i heard india got da chance..............but no one wuz ready to sponsor them. India got everyting. All they need is sponsors. Check out the african countries..........how well r they performin in da big tournaments. But da real ting in India is Cricket n Hockey Rulz........o yea n now tennis.

Well they can.
But this is what is plaguing Indian Football:
1. Indian Football Federation is run by Politicians (it's a common practice in india that sports federations are run by politicians). And this politician in chair right now, has been at the helm for last 15 years.
2. The sports ministry (like many others) is inefficient and sleeping. The Sports Ministers and bureaucrats spend time fighting each other and sleeping on the job. They have no interest in promoting sports (football).
There is no dearth of talent per se... remember India was a Silver medalist in 1950s in Asian Games.
But since the federation is led by a sleeping idiot, we have little hope at present. There is no dearth of sycophants in the govt. either, some of them spent time praying for a win for Italy because Sonia Gandhi (a political leader) has her origins in Italy !!!

Yes The youth of today (atleast in the cities) are deeply to hooked to Football on TV (English Premiership & Spanish La Liga) Ronalidinho & Beckham are perhaps equal to some of the top flight cricketers in popularity It is only a matter of time before the Schools catch on ... Potentially, 20 years from now, India does have a chance at qualification

Oh I hope one day they will....but i can't imagine it happening...unless they hire a really good coach.. and get really good players..
But can't really blame the Bharat because it really hasn't been that long since Independence (1947) and we Indians have no stamina. We also have to play asian powerhouses Japan, Korea, and others in the region
But there is always a hope...
