I think a lot of it has gone the way of trash (too much violence, obscene language and conotations) but there are some advocacy groups that have made in roads to ensuring there is some quality programming particularly for children. Ultimately though, it rests with parents particularly when children spend so much time these days watching television. You can't truly blame the programmers and producers etc.. when you have free will to watch something else.

Trash. Although I do enjoy television periodically it deadens society to what is happening around them and further removes the need for people to communicate face to face. For example, family dinner time: Few families I know even eat meals together and those that do have the television(s) on and nobody talks to one another. It complete removes the need for an imagination. I hate television with a few notable exceptions.

A little bit of both. I like television. I think we all need some mindless stimulation sometimes. There are learning channels that aren't mindless. I don't watch something I consider trash so that makes it easy. There are PLENTY of channels and they aren't all trash.

Absolute rubbish, scraping the end of the barrel. I gave up watching last year. Haven't misses it a bit.
