For starters, tear down BC Place. and build that new stadium in downtown Vancouver. BC Place ruined soccer in western Canada.
Also, at the school level, the teachers are just so lazy. They'd rather stay inside a gym on a raining day and play basketball, instead of going outside on the wet field. It rains and they better get used to it if they want a serious team.

Finally, put up some serious money and pay these guys like hockey players. Play 30 seconds of soccers of before every hockey game. Hire foreign coaches. Do whatever it takes. Play more international matches. Have more exhibition games between countries, etc.

They'll play qualifying games in CONCACAF and be rated accordingly. Only 4 teams from the CONCACAF region (North and Central America and the Caribbean) make it to the World Cup... the US and Mexico are almost always locks and the other two spots vary from tourney to tourney... I feel your pain. Canada's only appearance resulted in all losses and no goals, although they were in a tough division. (with France, Soviet Union and Hungary). They are capable, but seem to choke in key games. They had an excellent chance to qualify in 1994 and lost a series to Australia that went to penalty kicks... that was the year that Canada tied Brazil in a friendly. TIED BRAZIL! But I hope Canada can make it to the big dance someday. Soccer Canada seems to be refocused now and committed to bettering its squad.

First thing: Canada has to start treating its professional athletes with respect!!! There is little or no government funding, and in fact, when training, they are not subsidized... meaning they have to work their full time jobs AND practice as much as possible. It is absolutely insane that a country as free and as well off as ours treats our athletes in this manner. I mean, we are probably ranked VERY low on our treatment of National athletes.

For soccer in particular, we need to get ourselves a competent coach (spending money again of course) and give up better training programs. It is really simple honestly. Better training and coaching= winning.

I am honestly disgusted and embarrassed to be Canadian in this respect... Try looking up some local websites for schoolboards and governments... try to find links to physical education and excercise... at this rate it won't take us long to be ranked the fattest nation in the world. Sick.

um... they have to play good against some American teams (not in the US, as in the Central america, South america , ect.) and qualify. I highly doutb it that they will even win a game. They suck at football, but they are one of the greates hockey players.
