Americans hate war. When we are attacked though, we do fight back hard. Ask Japan, Germany and the Islam extremist this question. We want peace.

Lack of anything better to do. We hate that is why, we hate because we think others hate us. Since we are unable to stop the vicious cycle we end up at war. Now if we could figure out a way to stop the cycle by doing something else we wouldn't need to but so far we haven't been able to, so, lacking a better way to end disputes, we go to war. Stupid when you think of it. But check out history, it is true. Sure there are wars over land, oil, people, religion, but it all comes down to hatred and a lack of better ways to fix the problem.

Because there are some things that cannot be changed or stopped any other way. Like genocide, slavery, freedom from oppression, etc. Tyrants and dictators and evil people do not voluntarily change or stop - they must be forcibly removed.

And when one is attacked, one must either fight or surrender.

Conflict is part of human nature, and there will always be people with hate and avarice who will kill and invade others. To deny this aspect exists and not prepare against it, is to invite war upon oneself. To believe that pacifism in the face of these people, is to believe in suicide.

War is NOTso much about national security, patriotism, or any of that type of semantics, it is about ECONOMICS (Money) to be gain by being involved. Greed outweighs patriotism and national security hands down.
