My two nieces both do not want children. They have beautiful homes, nice cars. Do not have to work, but are professionals.
Most my friends children don't either.
Is this a trend?
My brother will never know the joy of being a grandparent, I just think its sad.
It's like a death of the family...

all answers are wonderful ....thanks,..
but you see, my bro is sad too. I had six children, now have 17 grands and it hurts me that it hurts him...
The girls are both married, one of their husbands come from like ten children and he definately does not want one. He is the "baby". lol
Oh, I wouldn't even encourage or dis/ them in any way, but I just wondered if it was a trend.
As for overpopulation, I think we still have lots room.
I do agree it is hard to raise children nowdays. We were lucky to have rancher parents.
It seems children want or need more.

What's a joy to you may be unpleasant to someone else. I never wanted kids, it's nothing against them, I'm just not a "kid person." I married someone with a child from a previous marriage, she's a "part time" kid. I haven't changed my mind after experiencing the "joy" of being a parent. She's a great kid and all, but if she wasn't in my life I still would not choose to have a child.
Some people prefer to live their lives for themselves, not having to give up all their freedom. Some would say that was a "selfish" reason for not having kids, but having kids so that you can experience the "joy" of them, or live through them as many people do, is also selfish. There are many people who decide to have children who really shouldn't, because they don't have what it takes to be good parents. I for one am glad that some people make the decision not to have children - they know what they want, and what they're good at, and it's not that.
It might seem sad to you, but you're projecting your own attitudes. You would be sad if you didn't have children, but they are happy as they are. Sometimes I feel sad when I see people with children miss out on great experiences and opportunities in their lives because they have to stay home with the kids, but I would never suggest to them that they made a mistake and should know the joy of being child free.

When my wife and I got married, there was a LOT of pressure on us to have a child. We both didn't want to have kids yet and some of our friends and especially my wife's parents said all sorts of inappropriate things... even so far as to calling us selfish. Having children is a personal choice and it is a decision that a couple needs to make, without input from anyone else. People do not and should have children to satisfy the needs of their family, they have children because they want to raise them. I told my in-laws that they were the ones guilty of selfishness, trying to pressure us to have a baby before we felt ready to have one. We have a child now, but I'm glad we waited, and I'm glad we had time to be a couple focused on each other.
Having children is a personal choice. I stress PERSONAL.

There could be any number of reasons why they don't want children; I never had any, myself, because I just don't like them enough to want any. It's like having a pool in the backyard: nice, but think of all the upkeep (and, not everyone likes to swim in the first place).
Is it a trend...? It's possible; studies suggest that overcrowding lessens interest in reproduction.
And, having children just so someone else can feel satisfaction is weird.

There are many reasons, but mostly personal. Usually it would be a problem of conceiving, financial constraint and/or freedom of choice. In today's society, many couples are slowly adapting to the new lifestyle, which they chose to live happily the way they desired.

Maybe one day they will change their minds. Truly it's all up to them but I think right now they are content with being able to come and go as they please. Parenting sometimes can be a set back when you are happy and managing without any. Maybe they want to travel and enjoy their amenities for a bit. Her biological clock will start to tick soon enough I'm sure!

Yes, it is very sad. I love children. Though it is getting harder I find to bring up children in this world the way it is.

many young couples refuse to have children because they won't be able to live their lives, won't be able to go out and have fun. if they are to have children they will have to spend their youth changing diapers, breast feeding, staying up late and no more going out o have fun. not counting the pain women go threw. also the fear of children growing up to mess up in life.
don't get me wrong i want ot have children but life is rough this days
