Genetic factors like their physical and psychological traits and temperament. Environmental factors like parenting styles, events in their life - these factors can also turn on genetic factors or be influenced by them, how people react to what happens in their life shapes their life. What friends they have and if they are of the type to be led by the crowd or individual. What beliefs they are surrounded by, what foods they eat. Less artificial additives can make children a lot calmer. How they choose to see their life - the more positive you are the better life you can lead, if you see everyone and everything as against you you are more likely to be suspicious and agressive. What encouragement they recieve, Whether they have a good relationship with their parents, what values they are surrounded by. The list is endless.

Nature or Nurture?? Before I had children I really believed that it was mostly the environment (parents, friends, family etc.) but since having two sons and raising them in the same environment I think I can safely say that nature is stronger. In other words, a child is born with a certain temperment (ask anyone who has more than one child and they'll tell you how totally different they are) so I now believe that genetics plays a huge part. If you want good kids, choose a spouse with a good temperment. Those genes will show up again, believe me. I divorced the father of my sons, but am left to raise alone his "clone". Of course, I can't divorce the child! LOL
