My daughter has a persistent image on her desktop. It is about three icon tiles long and does not change no matter how often she changes the Desktop. Right clicking on it does nothing, it does not appear in Appearance preview of the desktop. She is using XPHome and a Dell. Unfortunately she lives with her mother so I only get access occasionally to the computer. The persistent image only occurs on her log in, not on my ex-wife's log on, nor on her sister’s log on.
Any suggestions?

i think ur daughter has choosed the option " view desktop as a web page", She have to disable this option. Also if she is using win xp, she should open control pannel >display properties > themes, here from the theme tab she should choose windows xp and apply it.

Try deleting her log in then making another one.Also run anti-spyware and anti virus on her log in. and check the control panel for programs installed that you dont recognize.
