I had intended to ask a similar question.
Having read the replies so far, I agree that there are probably a certain percentage of people for whom English is not their first language, so they may be excused their mistakes.
However, I am disturbed by the number of replies dismissing the concept of correct spelling and grammar.
Language is what separates us from animals. To be able to speak and write clearly without ambiguity is important.
I have had only the most basic of formal education; no English professor here but I am concerned that our language is becoming degraded by general poor usage.

Teachers no longer look at spelling as they used to. Children therefore do not gain a proper grasp of what is right or wrong. Also people use texts a lot and frequently use words that are either abbreviated or just do not exist. Having said that computers do have spell checks and therefore there should be no real excuse for bad spelling other than laziness.

Probably because you have to manually run the spell checker, unlike most word-processing packages where the spell-checker can run automatically in the background correcting errors on the fly.

1. I think it is because there are many people from countries where English is not the first language.
2. probably because people want to be fast and post their answers quick!
3. Does it mean that YOU have a masters degree in English language? perhaps you could help and teach people here instead of judging..... :-)

-I have been wondering the same thing. It isn't just the spelling and grammar, it is also impossible to understand the questions.
I thought maybe it was people who have English as their second language, but that isn't it.
It is rather alarming and makes me worry about this generation becoming of age and fear that there will be a bunch of dead beats. Who will lead us . Who will lead us? Who will teach their children? Who will be our doctors? Most of all, who will lead our country? Scary, huh?

Because their teachers were not taught grammar and are totally incapable of teaching the subject. Spell check is just a sad joke.

I'd hate to think it was the standard of English taught in schools these days. I think a lot of it is the abbreviations used with text messaging, but some of the grammer is very poor!
