If you have one in your area, an Arthur Murray dance studion is an excellent way to pick up the basic steps used during social events. If not, check with dance studios (or your own college) to see if they offer classes in "ballroom" dancing. That should cover all the basics, like waltz, foxtrot, etc.

try checking classes at your local community college, they offer classes from ballroom to salsa. also look up dance clubs either on the net or the telephone book

YMCA offers classes.. i took some before my wedding to learn.. they were great!!! Also... u may want to check in your course catalog sometimes you can take ballroom dancing as a gym!! I know my school offered it.. its worth a shot!
