zidane's tragic exit it was sad to see him act like that eventhough i still have the same respect and admiration for him this incident has blotted his image nonetheless

It was the combination. To lose in the final is disappointing, but it happens and you accept it. To lose on penalties and after your team plays better through most of the game is that much worse.
If Zidane had played like he did against Brasil, there would have been victory in that -- perhaps even enough to offset the loss. If France had won, there would be no "could of"s or "if only"s and it wouldn't matter as much.
As it was, we have the disappointment of the loss and the sadness of Zidane's action and sympathy for what he must be feeling himself. It's cumulative and I think it's a bit facile to separate them.

I think Zidane's tragic exit...He was provoked, as a human being I totally understand his reaction, but I am still disappointed. And France should have won, cause they were so good...But next time it's their turn. France or Romania!
