I think that msn messenger is a great messenger.Its free and you get to talk to people in a instant press of a click.Plus there are lots of fun games , downloads and ways to chat with other people. =]

I use Yahoo!, AOL is popular, but I hear that skype is pretty good and that you can make pc to land line calls for free until jan-2007. Check it out. Try out a few different ones and you will find one that you like. Good luck.

Yahoo. It has e-mail, stock quotes, music and you can be on invisible when you dont want people bugging you. I use this one the most and the other ones are just there incase I need them.
