Your query is not very clear. Do you wish to change to a diesel car for you did not find the performance of a petrol-driven car to your liking either for the escalating prices or allergy. Operation of a diesel car is certainly cheaper but the their prices are rather stiff. The choice is yours. In case petrol allergy is the reason there is no go but to goo in for a diesel car.Decide accordingly taking all these facts into consideration. Next time you post a question please be a little more specific to avoid such bald reply.

On the outset I would like to tell you that It all depends on the distance you cover in a day, the country you live in(tax, price of fuel, weather, etc...), and what is your budget for fuel.
1. Say if you travel above 40Kms a day then I think its worth going for a diesel car.
2. If the petrol prices are twice that of the diesel price then its worth going for a diesel car.
3. Lastly the comfort level you are looking at. If you are annoyed by the engine sound and vibration you cant go for a Diesel car. (Except to some High end cars)

the break even point for a diesel car in england is 20000 miles a year BUT --- diesels are good to drive and you get more for them secondhand and they are more reliable than petrol engined cars. If you drive to the red line all the time go with petrol, if you like to change up early and make the engine pull - go for diesel

it depends on the distance you travel. If you want a small car and are only driving locally, perhaps fewer than 5000 miles a year then petrol (US=gas) is fine.
A petrol car is generally cheaper to buy and may need fewer oil changes. For a high mileage, the saving on fuel is more than the extra purchase cost.
In the UK, diesel is more expensive, here in France, diesel is much cheaper than petrol.
