I don't think it will meet UK buildings regulations - you need an enclosed space between a toilet and a food storage/preparation/eating area - i.e. you need to pass through two separate doors to get from one to the other. That's why there is always a lobby before the toilets in any UK pub or restaurant.
Check with your local council's building inspectors.

Where I live (and I also have one), there are a lot of Victorian houses and all the ones with downstairs bathrooms (nearly all) have the bathroom at the end of the kitchen. As long as you keep the door closed and it's ventilated, it's fine. A downstairs loo is always a bonus.

As long as there is other ventilation for the loo - that takes the smells away from the kitchen. I don't think it is a very good place though, having a loo so near food. I suppose it might be OK if the kitchen is big and the 'far end' means away from the food preparation areas.

Depends on the type of opener you get. Some of the newer door styles have the opener on the wall above the door opening, and the opener is attached to one side of the torsion spring. If you are getting a regular hanging opener, than the above answers will work just fine.

You cannot legally have a toilet opening directly into a kitchen, I think you have to have at least a 3 foot gap, but you need to check with building regulations first.

To be honest I have seen kitchens that have a small bathroom at the end of them tucked in the corner area. It had a big window inside though.

Not really. I did know of a woman who went ahead and did it, and covered the door with a large picture of shelves with jars on. Something tells me she would not get away with it should anyone come to inspect.

I have no idea abt the size of your apartment. I would prefer not opening a door (unless there is no other option) to the kitchen. but if it is ok with you, then its ok with me.Its your life !!!!!!!! ok? yes or no.

neils got the right idea, its definatly dodgy having a bog going straight into a kitchen, but if theres no other way of sighting it and you dont want to sell your place then its your choice.

It will probably be o.k, but you will need an extractor fan & a hinge on the door that keeps it shut.
